Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycle is not so Simple

Some folks think there is nothing easier than picking a cycling bicycle. Many people think they simply find the bike that looks good and feels comfortable. Wrong, there is more to it these days than simply looks and comfort. Now that more and more people are starting to cycle, the options have risen to an almost head-spinning variety. Today more people are choosing to ride a bicycle as their primary forms of transportation. Some people have decided to take up cycling as a hobby. No matter why you are picking your bicycle, here are some ways to help you along.

One thing you can consider when choosing a bike is whether or not your feet can rest flat on the floor while you are sitting so you can stop yourself. Some experts, however, say that this is not a good idea. They state the best way to choose a bike is to leave a few inches between your feet and the ground so you can have a more comfortable ride. You will likely find that the seat will rest too near the crossbar, if, when you sit on the seat, your knees are bent with your feet flat on the ground, which is an indication that the seat needs to be raised. If this is happening, when you start to pedal the bike then your knees are going to come up too high.

For road bikes take away 9 inches from the total of your inseam. This is to account for the size of tires you will use on a road bike. City riding is done with thin tires, designed to work perfectly with the smooth concrete roads and sidewalks you find in a city. With a mountain bike you will need to take away around one foot from the inseam. Mountain bikes have different tires than a road bike. You will find them to be much bigger and designed to handle rocky terrain. You can use mountain bikes for city cycling, but the opposite is not true and they are nowhere near as good on city streets as road bikes.

Which angle you tilt your seat at is also an important factor. The seat is designed to be tilted any way you want it to. You might find that a perfectly flat seat is a little uncomfortable and that you prefer to lean forward a little bit. Find the position that will be most comfortable to you, and stick with it. You may find that if you leave the seat in the flat position, the narrow part of the seat will not allow you to comfortably bend forward.

You should keep these things in mind when you go out and buy a bicycle, especially if you want to find the one that is right for you. There are tons of varieties of bicycles, as well as innumerable amounts of accessories available to you, so sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. Take your time and check here do some research and you’ll find the right bike before you know it.
